I am new to this forum and i have just setup a WIDS using kismet drone on a WRT54G and i am a bit confused.
I know the WRT54G is supposed to act an intrusion detection system on the wireless LAN and everything seems to be working fine. What i want to know is this, do i connect all my wireless devices to the router? i.e the kismet drone or do i still use my wireless access point which is a linksys wap. Another thing is how is it used as an intrusion detection?, how does it monitor attacks on the wireless lan?. Does a hacker attack the router? or if the router is up and running will it pick up attacks on the wireless access point?
