Topic: Setting DNS using WR0.9 in PPPoE mode

The content of this topic has been archived on 6 May 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

First I am a newbee, green, not real Linux smart, but trying.
I have searched this topic and not found an answer, or one I could understand.

I want to change the DNS servers in PPPoE mode but they automatically come up my ISP's.

I am using a Buffalo WHR G54S and running x-wrt  with webif.

Anyone know a command line solution to changing the routers?

Or which program sets them to the ISP where maybe a quick fix is to hard code not to use the ISP's but
use ones embedded in the code?

Do you have your own public DNS servers that you want to use ?  I am just trying to figure out why you
want to do this.  If you have your own DNS server inside your network you can specify you LAN DNS server(s)
in webif, under network.

I do not have my own public dns server.

I want to do this to use either the DNS server of my choice, including using OpenDNS servers.

As far as I can tell, I am stuck using my ISP's DNS server, unless I specify the DNS per machine instead of leaving it on automatic.

The discussion might have continued from here.
