Topic: Upgrade to Kernel 2.6 possible (openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx)?!

Hi everybody,

I bought a brand new Asus WL-500gP and already installed the "openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx"-OpenWRT-Image. The image works fine and I already mounted my usb-devices and isntalled samba. Nevertheless this image still uses the Kernel-version 2.4. But I want to use the cryptsetup-encryption which is only provided by kernel-version 2.6.

Is there any way to upgrade my kernel on the running system? Or should I re-install OpenWRT with another image?

Greetings,
Hendrik

You can use the 2.6 but then wifi will not work out of the box. Then you should replayce the mini-pci wireless card.
