Hello there!

my router yakumo wireless storage runs with freifunk-firmware-1.4.5. its based on openwrt whiterussian rc5. i have installed the following modules/packages to run my philips webcam toucam II PCVC820.
ipkg install kmod-usb-ohci kmod-videodev libpthread libjpeg motion; and the drivermodules for the camera: ov511.o ov518_decomp.o

dmesg says:

Linux video capture interface: v1.00
usb.c: registered new driver ov511
ov511.c: USB OV518 video device found
ov511.c: Device revision 1
ov511.c: Compression required with OV518...enabling
ov511.c: Sensor is an OV6630AF
ov511.c: Device at usb-00:04.0-1 registered to minor 0
ov511.c: v1.63 for Linux 2.4 : ov511 USB Camera Driver
ov518_decomp.c: v1.3 : OV518 Decompression Module

when i started motion or mvc i just see rubbish.

before i 've tried motion with pwc and Philips toucam pro II and spca5xx with qtec-cam and its worked fine!
has anywone some ideas?

Dave

I have a similar problem with Hercules Webcam Deluxe (ov51x) on ASUS WL-500gd with rc6. The output resembles your one, but it is cleanly green with noise of different green shades in the upper part. I'll post the image later.

how loaded the webcam-modules?

insmod ov51x
insmod ov518_decomp

??

dave

ok.

the problem is the weakly router. I tested with asus wl500gp and it works fine.
I think the yakumo-router has to few power (125 mhz) and an old usb-controler (usb-ohci).

Dave

Well, here's the image I promised before.

But a cause of it is probably very different.

The discussion might have continued from here.
