IMHO it would be beneficial to list the packages as well as the build number for the images in the snapshots directories.

Just a simple "ipkg list_installed" output would work great as long as the build number is always attached to the "base-files" line.

Most basic example:

base-files-ar7-2.6 - 8-7038 -
br2684ctl - 20040226-1 -
bridge - 1.0.6-1 -
busybox - 1.4.1-1 -
dnsmasq - 2.38-1 -
dropbear - 0.49-1 -
ez-ipupdate - 3.0.11b8-2 -
hotplug2 - 0.9-1 -
iptables - 1.3.5-1 -
kernel - 2.6.19.2-ar7-1 -
kmod-atm - 2.6.19.2-ar7-1 -
kmod-ipt-nathelper - 2.6.19.2-ar7-1 -
kmod-sangam-atm-annex-a - 07.01.00.10+2.6.19.2-ar7-1 -
libgcc - 4.1.2-8 -
libpthread - 0.9.28-8 -
libupnp - 1.3.1-1 -
linux-atm - 2.4.1-1 -
linuxigd - 0.95-1 -
mtd - 5 -
ntpclient - 2003_194-2 -
uclibc - 0.9.28-8 -
udevtrigger - 106-1 -

EDIT:  Ok, I know the ipkg method won't work since that implies testing of the snapshot images.  But you get the picture.
