I'm currently trying to put together a package for a non-technical friend in the UK. I've got an Asus 500gP setup and working fine here in Germany, but now the question has emerged how he is going to connect that to his BT ADSL line (London). He currently using a Netgear DG834 with a built-in modem, which keeps forgetting it's settings.
Obviously, I'd like to have the public IP on the Asus, but I'm not sure what actual connection method is used over the ADSL link by BT, and how I can get this to the Asus. I've looked at the Linksys AM200, and from reading through the manual, I would think that I can configure it as a "dumb" modem, just relaying PPP frames as PPPoE to the Asus, but I'm not certain.
What do people in the UK use? Are the USB ADSL sticks that are supported by OpenWRT?
