Topic: wgt634u problems : wifi and flash

The content of this topic has been archived on 18 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

hi,

My problems are:
1)No wifi for me ->
root@OpenWrt:/# insmod ath_pci
ath_pci: 0.9.4.5 (0.9.2.1)
PCI: Fixing up device 0000:00:01.0
ath_pci: cannot reserve PCI memory region sad

2) the device have 8M of flash but i only see 5.5M ->
Filesystem                Size      Used Available Use% Mounted on
none                        14.7M     48.0k     14.6M   0% /tmp
tmpfs                       512.0k         0    512.0k   0% /dev
/dev/mtdblock3          5.5M      1.4M      4.1M   26% /jffs
/jffs                          1.0M      1.0M         0    100% /

um, any solution?

thanks :B

PD: i'm using kamikaze pre-builded image from here http://downloads.openwrt.org/kamikaze/7 … uashfs.bin

I have the same problem with two new WGT634U, with the same image.

wlan: 0.8.4.2 (0.9.2.1)
ath_hal: module license 'Proprietary' taints kernel.
ath_hal: 0.9.17.2 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413, REGOPS_FUNC)
ath_rate_sample: 1.2 (0.9.2.1)
wlan: mac acl policy registered
ath_pci: 0.9.4.5 (0.9.2.1)
PCI: Enabling device 0000:00:01.0 (0000 -> 0002)
PCI: Fixing up device 0000:00:01.0
ath_pci: cannot reserve PCI memory region

If you have any idea... smile

Thanks,
Frederic / France

I also have a wgt634u.

ath_pci is loaded by default.  why are you trying to load it again?  Boot the thing and do lsmod and you will see it already loaded.

Hi,

It was my dmesg log. The "ath_pci: cannot reserve PCI memory region" was during boot. I don't try to load it again.

For information, if I manualy rmmod and insmod ath_pci, I have always the same error.

There is a bug in https://dev.openwrt.org/ticket/1218 and it looks like an hardware problem. I have 3 wgt bought at the same time, can I put them in a trash right now ? :-(

Frederic.

I have the same problem with one of my WGTs. Thought it was a HW-Problem too, but it would be a huge coincidence if we all suffer from a b0rked WLAN-Card. The problem is, it works with my other WGT just fine.

For information (if it helps), this is the numbers under the Wi-Fi card : "D042440464201474 / 5508003847 REV:0"

On the Atheros chip, there is :

AR5213A - 00
B08634B
1504

On the main board, between the Power and Internet led, there is : "2976225702 / WGT634U"

If you want any other information, just ask. I don't know what is important for you...

Frederic.

um, i try using another power supply, seems like worked over 5 minutes, later wgt rebooted sad and got in the first problem again :S i'll change my wgt (i think the next will be "fine")
bye bye

PS: the reserve memory in kernel_args doesn't work for me sad

My card and board work fine.  Details:

Under the Wi-Fi card: 5508003847 REV:0 Just this and a mac
On the Atheros chip: AR5213A - 00    BA17579C    0604
On the board: same as below.

Hope this might clear up something

Mine doesn't work. Maybe we could try to revert to r4xxx or something I remember that one worked for me

I have 3 wgt634u's all running rock solid

r7645
r4131 (This has been up for 100 days or so - and I deliberately restarted it)
r7690

Hi,

What kind of firmware do you use ? The kamikaze version or a snapshot ?

My two wgt634u without wifi was flashed with the last "stable" kamikaze. Tomorrow, I will test with the lastest snapshot. Perhaps it will help.

Thanks,
Frederic

I tried the last snapshot image of Kamikaze (04 and 05 juil 2007) and both crashed at boot time. I don't know if it helps (I can not read kernel panic logs) :

registering PCI controller with io_map_base unset
PCI: fixing up bridge
PCI: Fixing up device 0000:00:00.0
Data bus error, epc == 8014e6c0, ra == 8014e698
