Topic: after many attempts I managed to hose my wrt54gl

Openwrt flashed fine but wireless wasn't working.  I had dinked with various nvram setting to get wpa2
up and I figured I'd get back to ground zero by going back to linksys fw.  What an idiot, that's the nv part
of nvram but too late...  And too late I found the docs for removing openwrt.  Crap.

Now I have a bastard linksys fw running.  I have a web i/f but the connection resets every time I try to
save a setting.  web fw upgrade gives a connection reset error too.  tftp gives "invalid password" error
(I had disabled passwd login).

The box is evidentally running but the flash/nvram aren't in agreement.  Will opening the box and
grounding ping 16 help me now?  Any other suggestions?

Don't short the flash, you'll just make things worse than they already are.

When running the linksys firmware, you can hold the reset button to reset it to defaults

While the linksys firmware is running, it's also running a tftp server included within the linksys fw; this is a password protected tftp server which differs from the tftp server available for a few seconds before the firmware boots. Our documentation refers to the tftp server before the firmware boots, although it is possible to use the tftp server within the linksys firmware, you just need to find a linksys tftp client.

Hey Thanks!
I thought I had tried resets before but this time it worked.  I was able to reload openwrt from
the linksys web i/f.  OK, back to square one.  I can't wait to play around (carefully) some more.
