My problem was due to a Chillispot bug for big-endian platforms. It has been fixed in r9041 and so in 7.09 works fine.
Good to know. I may give Chillispot another try even if the project seems to be dead and I can't seem to get any other captive portal working.

I have been fiddling around a bit with Kamikaze, and the firewall is indeed one of the issues, I have never got it where it should be.
Another issue is that the packages now seem to grow, and installing freeradius and monit in the latest versions now consumes more flash disk even if the memory footprint seems to be better. I am also struggling with the WDS settings in Kamikaze.
