So I installed white russion onto my WRT54GL v1.1 and I wasn't too happy with it. It didn't have quite all the features I was hoping. So I tried the kamikaze 7.09 one. I felt some what secure in my skills to flsah the firmware. However i didn't happen to notice that the kamikaze firmware i was flashing onto my router doesn't have a web interface.

Is there any way I can flash a firmware with a web interface? I already tried the tftp.exe on my windows install, i tried installed the default WRT54GL firmware and the White Russion one I had working. Neither worked.. Help!!

(right now i'm connected dirrectly into the internet [on ubuntu though thank god])

I guess a question is, on the Kamikaze default installation what is the password?? Maybe that's the tftp.exe problem.

Try to telnet into the router and type passwd to set your password.
Then you have to download your firmware into the router (use /tmp directory).

Try:

root@OpenWrt:~# wget http://downloads.x-wrt.org/xwrt/kamikaze/7.09/brcm-2.4/openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx

or alternatively scp that file into the /tmp directory.

The firmware image of Kamikaze 7.09 I mentioned comes with the web interface.
The last step to do is:

root@OpenWrt:~# mtd -r write openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx linux

This is in my opinion the easier way to reflash your Linksys.
