After big trouble with my Topcom Webr@cer 1154+ Annex B (Garmany), i now use my older Sphairon AR860 modem i got from my ISP. Just a little bit of google, i found something interesting http://wiki.mhilfe.de/index.php?title=Sphairon_AR860 (Sorry, this page is in german). There is a tool for "controlling" the modem which also supports controlling of (now thats funny at all) DG834 a.k.a. Webr@cer 1154+ and many others more. With the webinterface installed on the AR860 i was able to configure the router to my needs AND enabled telnet.
here is a picture of the pcb (AR801 is same as AR860; and as you can see it is non-wlan)
