Hey all,

I have a quick question.

I am wondering if anyone has had success with wifidog on Kamikaze?

I have it on openwrt fine but I haven't tried it on Kamikaze.  Can I use the ipk install file?

Another question.
I need to do some traffic shaping and QoS ... how is Kamikaze with these two items?

Thanks again for your wisdom!

Hi, coolbeansdude51.

I've used wifidog on kamikaze 7.09, openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx. It works like a charm.
# ipkg update
# ipkg install wifidog
Just try it.

Regards,

zukky

Heck yeah it does!

Thanks man!

Any advise on a good QoS script that will work for both of those?

Hi,
I've been using wifidog on Whiterussian 0.9 for a lot of months with an average of 60 different users per day and an average of 10 simultaneously connected (sometimes 30) without any problem.
A month ago I've upgraded to Kamikaze 7.09 and apparently wifidog was ok, until a lot of users tried to connect and wasn't redirected to the auth login. This wasn't regular.. sometimes it happens when the fourth client connects, sometimes in the tenth.
I've tried to use Kamikaze 7.07 and the problem persists. I've tried wifidog 1.1.3_rc1 and the problem persists. I've tried     wifidog 1.1.4-1 and NO ONE is redirected.
However, when the users follow the http://auth... manually they can login and access the Internet without any problem.
Anyone with this problem?
Miguel

I am using Kamikaze 7.09 with wifidog with out any problems.

I haven't had the kind of loads that you are talking about but with the loads that I have no problems.

You might what to try the wifidog mailing list.  They might know more.

Props,

P.S.
If all else fails.  I would suggest just going back to what worked.  I am considering going back as well.  I enjoyed the web interface of openwrt and x-wrt.  I know that x-wrt is coming out with kamikaze support but its just not fast enough for my taste.

Using whiterussian isn't a good option to me because the wireless driver is bugous: some client cards crashes the router. The only option right now, for this kind of loads, is to have two routers... one with whiterussian, routing and wifidog and the other router with kamikaze and wireless.
And whiterussian uses nvram... argh tongue

Dang.  Yeah that does suck.

Sorry mate.  I have no clue.  Try the wifidog mailing list.

What router are you using by the way?

I'm using the Linksys WRT54GL v1.1.
I'll try to solve this issue and I'll be back here when I have some news.
Thanks.

That's what I use.

I have not used wifidog.  Only chillispot, but someone I know who was using chillispot on DD-Wrt had a similar sounding issue.  The problem was that dnsmasq and chillispot would both try to give the client an IP address.  Sometimes chillispot would win and the client would get redirected to the login page.  Sometimes dnsmasq would win and the client could surf without logging in.

i.e.  make sure that dnsmasq is not handing out leases to your clients on the wifi interface.

Hello,
I installed Wifidog on my Asus 500gp and I'm a bit stuck with its configuration. I'm not sure how to use the AuthServer parameter.  Does this correspond to a radius server ? Which would be this config if I have a radius server installed ?

Thanks,
TEx
