Topic: Recent trunk images won't boot on WGT634U

The content of this topic has been archived on 29 Mar 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

The subject says it all.

I build pretty often.  The last one that works is 9548.

None of the images that lack "2.6" in their filename has booted for me, if that's a clue for anyone.  They get to the point after detecting the FPU emulator, where "-preinit-" ought to show next, and then hang.

Sorry I can't help fix this.   This has happened before a couple of times, and then things started working again.   But the spells have never lasted as long as this one.

Good to know. Thank you.

I was wondering if I can convert back to 2.4 kernel for my WGT634U, seems I better stay with 2.6 kernel.

I'm now using build 9723 and it's basically OK except some packages could not work, like samba, and sometimes hangup(happens rarely)

Are you using 2.4 kernel or 2.6?

I built 9773 Saturday night, and it hangs on boot as I described.

There is something weird with some of the recent earlier builds that do boot, too.  I can't find the evidence to nail what is going on exactly, but the symptom--strange as it sounds--is that if I ssh into one of the boxes (using dropbear) as a non-root user, then try to ssh back out again, the invocation of ssh hangs permanently until the machine is rebooted.

The fix?  Come into the machine as root, and then su to the user in question, and it works just fine.

That has been the case since builds I have done in the late 8XXX range.

I'll just be happy when I can get a build to boot again. . . I hate being behind the game.

Recent trunk revisions has only a 2.6 Kernel for the WGT634U.

Right, I'm using 2.6 Kernel.
One thing I want to say is, when I type "reboot" in ssh to reboot the box it always crash, only by pull the power and re-plug, then the box could start work

i've been getting the "reboot" failure since i started building trunk again, sometime just before 9500.  its been going on for a while.

I see that a bunch of development releases, including the one that caused me heartburn, aren't there anymore for download.

I just got r9815, and it boots and runs just fine on my WGT634U.

The discussion might have continued from here.
