I was digging WIKI for help with upgrading OpenWRT to new build.
Would someone drop there some hints for newbies how to upgrade and not to brick the router ?

I understood that reflash effect depends on selected image (jiffs or squashfs).
But what will happen if I reflash with new squashfs image compiled with new gcc and on my customized / partition there was some kmods and other packages installed ?

Does reflashing perform firstboot script ?
Is there any smart way to backup some settings and restore them after reflashing ?
