I saw a page detailing how to flash Linux onto a DI524 router. http://www.hwhack.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5
With that, is it possible to run OpenWRT on it?

It uses an unsupported CPU and we don't support 2MB flash 8MB ram devices, not enough space to provide a system that supports anything more than a minimal feature set.
Oops, didn't read the whole article
hehe
Maybe I'll just put linux on it
EDIT: On a hack-related note, I added a second antenna to this router.
Right above the trace for the first antenna, if you de-solder the little SMD thing (I'm not sure what it is L20-something) and solder in a wire, and run it out of the box, you get another antenna. Not sure what it's good for, but still.

I was helping this guy bring up his device with OpenWRT 7.09.

Maybe you can try.
This is what we went through back and forth trying to bring up AR2317 up.

There was a big thread between him and me trying to resolve some of the issues.
Unfortunately your link did not work and I can't tell what chip set DI524 uses.
