Topic: Foxboard....anyone is working on it? (CrisOS works...)

The content of this topic has been archived on 18 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

Hi there!
I'm using CrisOS as the operating system for my foxboard.
CrisOS is based on an old version of Kamikaze, but it works well.

Is someone working on making Foxboard as a "stable" target for the official Kamikaze?

CrisOS can be found here:   http://www.crisos.org

Many thanks!

I don't have such a hardware, but this platform (etrax) looks like is actively updated in the kamikaze trunk.

The board is still in the "broken platforms"...and won't compile sad even with basic features (just downloaded the svn and enabled the etrax...won't compile :\)

If some of the devs wanna take a look at the CrisOS project, maybe they can find useful code to not be rewritten.

PS: Sorry 4 my english!

you may try to enter a detailed ticket on the openwrt trac system.

Ok....someone fixed the target...but i'm very un-sure now....
I've set the target image to have 32mb dram and 8mb flash using "make kernel_menuconfig" but it still generate 4mb images instead of 8mb images... and i'm un-sure of which image should i choose (fimage.squashfs  or   fimage.jffs2-64k   or openwrt-etrax-jffs2 or openwrt-etrax-squashfd ???).
I'm very confused!!!

I've tryed all the images...it seems to flash ok,but it don't..... it doesn't touch any info inside the foxboard, everything is like nothing has been flashed :\

I would like to see a Crisos and Openwrt merge!
What the reason to have separate development efford?

Infact smile

CrisOS works almost perfectly.
I know that it would require a lot of time to merge the 2 projects....so i'll wait smile  not a big problem for me....but it would be nice too smile
I'm not a linux expert,so don't expect develops from me,at least i can be a beta-tester since i flash my foxboard twice a day smile

I've successfully managed to create flash images, but the buildroot only generate 4mb images, so i cannot test those images because my foxboard is 8mb.
Any suggestions? (how can i create 8mb flash images? I've tryed make kernel_menuconfig and set 8mb/32mb,but it still generate 4mb images).

Help smile

If someone can point me out what should i do to "merge" the 2 projects (where to start...) would be great!
I could work on the "merging" with all the people interested in the etrax targets (like Foxboard).

I've now tryed modifying the makefile and set the size of the image to 8mb, the image creation goes ok,but it won't flash sad

Got it booting!
But it show an horryble kernel panic....not syncing....

I'm the Crisos maintainer and I start this project months ago with the two main goals:
1. Fix the etrax on Openwrt
2. Provide a wide range of package as binary repository for cris arch

During my work I always release fix on openwrt trac system (see list on mywebsite) and the platform can be consider stable after the patch proposed on this very long thread of openwrt mailing list http://www.mail-archive.com/openwrt-dev … 01939.html
All diff between openwrt and crisos are published on http://download.tuxfamily.org/crisos/da … 8.09.patch (important diffs are target/linux/etrax/patches/100-compile_fixes.patch and package/iptables/patches/1.4.0/008-table_alignment_fix.patch) and are also been reported to cris openwrt mainteiner (john), so we should only wait and hope tongue

I like also invite all openwrt developer to commit this patches because this really fix etrax, many users are using it now on several etrax platform.

Regards

Any good news out there?
