Good question!
According to wikipedia it's not
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linksys_WR … es#WRT54G2
But according to this it is:
http://www.alyz.com/openwrt.xhtml
There are other posts in this forum about the same thing too.
Good luck!

thx. I hope it will be supported soon, i am afraid flashing the firmware without knowing for sure. If anyone can tell more details i d be grateful.
meantime i found out that DD-WRT (micro) supports the WRT54G2 v1 but didnt test it. (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Su … es#Linksys) - the little memory (2MB Flash) i not enough for many packages (e.g. sshd). Maybe OpenWrt can do better in time but i would nt recommend to buy the WRT54G2. Maybe there s a way to upgrade the memory?
Yeah i figure the "micro" version would be the only one that would fit. I have it running on my WRT54Gv5. I'm willing to guess that the WRT54G2 is pretty much the same hardware. I think there is a memory upgrade h4ck available for the WRT54G, but it requires physically removing the Intel memory module and replacing it with a new one. That's a bit too gutsy for me but I always like to hear success stories if your willing to look it up and try.
After a quick google search, here's something that might work.

Anyone have the linksys WRT54G2 v1 flashed into openwrt yet?
Have it on DD-WRT
