Topic: setting nvram on 8.09

The content of this topic has been archived on 25 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

There doesn't seem to be an nvram command included anymore, and I don't seem to have boot_wait set.  Luci has no option to set this, and I can't seem to break into CFE.

Is there a package that includes the nvram command that I can install?  I searched through the menuconfig and can't find anywhere that I might have been able to include this...

You have two options.

- Access the CFE via serial console

- Or flash a 2.4 image (which still has the nvram command) and then flash back to the 2.6 image

Yes, I am running a 2.6 image, interesting that the command is not present there...  Since I can't break into the CFE, I suppose I'll have to install a different image.

Bummer.

Well, that was a big pain in the ass, but it worked.  Ended up losing my configs but managed to install 7.0.9 to do the nvram stuff, and now have the latest snapshot installed.  I opened a bug report to see about getting the nvram command back in on the 2.6 kernel, but it looks like that isn't going to happen for some reason.

Is there any other method of setting nvram variables?  In my case, not being able to break into CFE was a major hurdle (works now, since I've set the boot_wait)...

The discussion might have continued from here.
