According to the product brief of the BCM5354, the chip in the whr-g125, it has a USB 2.0 host controller. If so, couldn't a USB port be soldered to the appropriate pins on the chip and the appropriate drivers written to use the 'free' USB port?

Soldering an USB port wont be enough.
If you are not lucky, you have to solder missing components (voltage regulator, pullup resistor..)
Im trying to do the same on a Linksys but i have come up with nothing, yet.
