Topic: Atheros AR7100 - Rb433 - madwifi monitor crashes

The content of this topic has been archived on 5 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

All,
I am running 8_09, 2.6.25 kernel, madwifi-trunk-r3314 on a Atheros based RB433 board.
I have one atheros based CM9 80211a/g radio on the board as well.

when I put the CM9 card on monitor mode by issuing this cmds, the Rb433 crashes, and reboots itself

root@OpenWrt:~# wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode monitor
root@OpenWrt:~# ifconfig ath0 up

Just before the crash.. the msg was about....
CPU0 unable to handle kernel request at virtual address 00000284, epc = , ra =
Oops[#1]:
Cpu0 .....and so on....

when I googled for this issue, I found related patch for madwifi...and it is already included in openwrt.
patch is: 126-rxerr_frames.patch....

Have anyone seen this....have any clues.....thanks,

the patch developed by "nbd" to solve this problem is useless in this case.
In AR7100, it is still crashing in monitor even after the patch applied....

any ideas ....thanks,

Hi guys,

I've been using a rb433 with a ubiquiti SR71 wireless card since months and, slowly, after many reinstallations, I could get a working AP due to the improvements to the ath9k driver. I would like to buy another minipci card featuring classic ABG operation mode but I'm experiencing doubts as I can't find any reference to any atheros chipset working under linux (openwrt) for this architecture. Can some of you share some success stories about some minipci brand working with AR71x boards under openwrt? I was about to buy a Mikrotik R52 but I could not find a exact reference about this card working with madwifi or ath5k.
