Topic: Linksys WRT54GL or La Fonera 2.0?

The content of this topic has been archived on 6 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

Hello,

I am thinking of replacing my modded WRT54GL into a La Fonera 2.0 with USB. Does anybody know how this device performs with Kamikaze? Does it have spare GPIO pins for connecting a SD card?

The reason for abandoning my WRT is that it is damn slow for streaming media through the internal host, and I don't know if this is a hardware fault or software problem. See post here: http://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=1875.4. Maybe anybody knows if this is simply the limitation of the broadcom chipset?

Is it worth upgrading and will the atheros chipset of the La Fonera perform better?

Thanks,
Alexander

Kamikaze 8.09 on Linksys WRT54GL, serial mod, 256MB sd mod, openvpn, bootext config. wireless client mode
Debian Lenny on Linksys NSLU2 (slug) with 160 GB 2.5 inch HD, nfs, samba and cups print server

I'd buy none of them. Get a Alix/Avila board and a Atheros wireless miniPCI card.
