I am a openwrt noob and need some help.

I installed kamikaze and it worked, however there seems to be no wireless driver installed, and Iwconfig is not installed, and therefore no wifi capability.

None of the documentation on opewrt.org or the wiki site seems to give any information on how to set up wifi (setep-by-step instructions that is), or at least nothing I can find.

is there anyway someone can point me to the wireless setup docs or give be a brief primer or even a link to help me get wireless going on kamikaze 8.09.1?

This is general discussion, the rest of the subforums certainly aren't the correct place.

I would be helpful, but I have the same problem.  In theory, you go into /etc/config/network and change vlan1 from "0 5" to "4 5".
Then you go into /etc/config/wireless and comment out the line that disables the wireless (there is a comment right there, it is obvious).

That will give you wireless, however, then your ethernet connections and your wireless connections won't be bridged, which is what I don't know how to do.

so a request on a how-to or documentation on something that should work out of the box does not belong in the how-to documentation forum>

I'm not sure why iwconfig isn't available to you, I think it should be there but intially will show no wireless support on any of the interfaces...

Next you have to remove the  "option disabled 1" lines under your respective wifi interfaces in /etc/config/wireless, have you already done that?

You have the lucy webmin installed? If so you could try  it from there. If that doesn't work, what chipset have your wireless card? Don't you have any wireless drivers installed ? Can you install packages?
