You'll have to solder a four pin header in the space right below the ethernet switch.
The pin nearest to the switch looks like ground, then probably tx and rx (going down).
That's what I figured but there are a number of components without soldering just below, do not influence?
This router also has usb?
(Last edited by juander on 18 Sep 2009, 09:50)
I have seen two possible RX and TX, a default one is at 0V and the other at 2.8V, that you think?
If I convert the signals between router and PC with a MAX232, does it break?
(Last edited by juander on 19 Sep 2009, 10:44)
Thank, to connect your PC to the router can I use MAX232?
It is better to use MAX3232, or mobile phone datacable like Nokia DKU-5. I am using Siemens mobile datacable with Prolific PL2303 chip.
How upload the firmware? How is the cable connected properly?
It is not the same hardware, but it can help you to understand how install or use the serial cable, maybe the firmware as well.

juander, the pinouts is (bottom) gnd - tx - rx - vcc (top)

is there any pre-built image ? Because the latest f@ast2404-cfe, from 8.09 rc2 gets partition error...
thx
Has anyone succeeded in porting openwrt to the sagem fast 2404 / 2504 / 2604 ? if so, how? probably my isp will be giving me one soon.
flash is unusable... so no filesystem
But there must be some way, why doesn't the bootloader load the image? wrong headers/checksums? some compression algorithms we're not using? How about replacing the bootloader?

no, no.. the bootloader does load the image.
see bug tracker
Ok, so we just have to figure out the original firmware organization in the flash memory and mimic that, right? our kernel is being loaded but the squashfs partition is not the right place/the flash is not correctly partitioned, is that it?

tehere's only one partition mtd0 ...
these days i've been flashing an ar7 so i know mtd partitions may be redefined... but ¿how can this be done in cfe? ¿deosn't the bin image redefine the map?
(Last edited by DeerHunter on 16 Jan 2010, 00:55)
someone got it working already a year ago:
https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php … 246#p76246
but he doesn't give much details i think hmm
DeerHunter, how do you log in with the original firmware? i have a tacky configuration interface in the sagem 2604 in telnet and ssh, not a shell. Also, mtdX are not mentioned in the system logs, another naming is used ("read flash: part [factory] things like that instead of mtd0 or 1 o2 whatever, you can see it in the log.
edit: i see your 2404 log is almost identical
edit: i guess you're getting a shell from the serial console
edit(2): i can get a shell by typing sh in the tacky menu instead of an option number
edit(3): some info:
