hi guys,i am totally new to open wrt and has no knowledge of linux.but i always wanted to use openwrt on my router so  i just installed openwrt from (8.09.1 --bcrm 2.4---
openwrt-wrt54g-squashfs.bin.So is it the right version for my wrt54gl? and also in the documentation it says"Right after flashing at your first login set a few NVRAM parameters.

nvram set boot_wait=on
nvram set boot_time=10
nvram commit && reboot"

but i tried to search onmy routers setting  web interface and couldn't find it.       could somebody please tell me how to do that please?is it must to change those parameters?thanks in advance..

Hi.

Those parameters only come into play if you need to reflash your router some day. If everything is broken, because you locked yourself out or similar then you need those to be able to reflash the firmware with tftp. You need to login with ssh on the device and execute the commands above. If you haven't set/change the password on your device yet then ssh is not available and you need to login using telnet.
