ever thought about your firmware image being corrupted? where is it from? maybe you should try another one (or download the same one again or do a checksum).
besides: neat pictures, but i could not really see any details. but seems that you've got a good hand for entering console uboot by now :-)

Edit: just seen your latest post. now you have a pro-brick :-))

A big thanks to all who had the patience to explain what to do
which sent the image was corrupted that was poblema and well understood, "tpl" which went not copy

This problem again I want to install these packages from the logo but I think this error is ..

!?!??!?!?!?!
WHY?!? seriously, WHY would you want to install ALL packages? I have not yet tried this, but I expect to exceed the storage limits of the flash chip. There is only 8 MB of flash, and the firmware image probably takes 1-2 MB. Run "df" to see if there is some space left (unless external memory is used, but no indication for that).

and PLEASE: let us know which firmware image you are using (preferably with download url).

@MBS

Relax, he's in the /tmp directory installing ALL packages that exist there (likely obtained via ssh, wget, etc.)....not the entire repository.

Maybe true. I mainly saw things like

Installing libcurl (7.19.6-1) to root...
Downloading http://downloads.openwrt.org/backfire/10.03/ar71xx/packages/libcurl_7.19.6-1_ar71xx.ipk.

Anyway, /tmp can hold about 20 MB of files and i would expect ipk-files to be compressed, so I am pretty sure he filled his flash already. And IMHO he is bloating his system and does not know what he is doing. So I would actually say: WTF!?!
Take care, dude :-)

True and WTF indeed....Looks like I'm blind ;-(

Ok you're right that this is actually full of flash I am interested in only two pcscd pl2303 and you can install them if possible and a Thomson SpeedTouch 330 modem to disable adsl router and do all this tp-link in pl2303 and see how many want to ask us for proper pcscd cs on it that runs on ubuntu mometan
Thanks again for advice.

PS: What is the most stable firmware openwrt? have a direct link?
Crested an external hdd I have a USB 2.0 hub, USB 10 output is Crested alimetat external hdd in jffs ext2 format I can install the image on the hdd?

Hi! Sorry if I should open a new topic since i have TL-WR741ND router, but I have a similar problem like gobi2000 had, my TL-WR741ND just keeps rebooting and it seems it does not take into account "tpl" command. Here is serial connection log contents (i managed to type "tpl" on second and fourth boot, but nothing happened):

Am i doing something wrong or router is dead?
Gobi2000, did you manage to pass this step where you need to type "tpl"? I got a feeling that you did since from your later posts i saw you somehow managed to get openWRT running.

Any help is appreciated.

If i remember correctly:
The typing of "tpl" does not show in the log, if it is entered at the correct moment.
But i have only WR1034NDs, maybe it's different with the WR741ND.

Regrads,
Ralph

Hi Ralph,
thanks for your reply.
I wasn't sure whether my serial connection works, so i turned on echo. This is why "tpl" is shown in log. IMHO, turning echo on does not actually guarantees that command is received on router's serial port...
Anyway, i will keep trying to find a solution.

Regards!

You're welcome !
The most important thing with this "tpl" typing is to do it in the EXACT right moment,
first time it took me about 15 attempts....
A good idea is to put "tpl" in your clipboard and paste it into your terminal, it's quicker.

regards,
Ralph

Hi again,
an update for all people that have similar problem, i hope they won't waste time and effort on cable other than CA-42.
I finally found a CA-42 cable and replaced the old one. "tpl" command worked like charm... It seems it does make a big difference which cable is used. SonyEricsson cable based on PL2303HX chip does not work properly. I was fooled by perfectly OK output that i received using mentioned cable, so i thought that cable is actually working OK.

Thanks for update !

I also would not have thought the cable to be suspicious due to the perfect output...
This will help some...

regards,
Ralph

Hi Guys,

Thought I would drop in on my thread. Good to see its still going after about a year and a half.

I haven't updated my router since I got the switch driver committed, about a year. I am going to try the latest Backfire release now.

Best regards.

Welcome back to the thread indeed!
By latest release, I hope you mean self built from Backfire SVN, or from here since 10.03.1-rc4 is pretty old and includes a bad switch bug.

@dash17291 well, thanks for the effort, I guess. How do I open this file?

Does anybody have a block diagram for TL-WR1043ND?

I prepared one with M$ Visio 2007 but it is not accurate at all (I'm not an expert.)

I sketched a visio graphic a little while ago too. If somebody could confirm the correctness, I will add it to the wiki.

It depends on your purpose. In my own opinion a block diagram in the wiki should contain even the following data:
- SoC model and all I/O provided (USB, GPIOs, LEDs, Buttons, serial console, JTAG)
- Flash chip and RAM (maybe with address space they live in)
- WiFi chipset model
- Switch model and how it is connected to the SoC
Maybe even more, but these are the things that just pop up in my mind when thinking about the schematics of that router.

MBS wrote:

Indeed, it always depends on the level of abstraction. My version simply shows the internal network topology in the default configuration.

Hello,

i need a little advice regarding the 1043nd serial.

i have the v1.7 and i soldered some pins to the serial terminals as indicated in the openwrt router's page.

now something strange is happening to me

if i only connect gnd and rx to the board, i get the normal output, uboot 1.1.4 bla bla bla

if i plug my tx line then not only it doesnt work but the output gets screwed.

i have tested: 2 diferent programas, both do the same. (putty and hyperterminal)
i have tested my cable, works fine with other router (where i can read an write to the serial console ).

cable is a ca-42 clone, and its working with other routers, but this.

any hints would be appreciated, as i dont want to flash without getting a serial console working in the event i need it.

best regards
Miguel.
