Topic: Motorola WE800G and OpenWRT.

The content of this topic has been archived on 25 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

I have access to bunch of Motorola WE800Gs and I very much like to have OpenWRT running on them, but uploading of the whiterussian RC3 Motorola version resulted with "upgrade fail" message.

As the WE800G is in untested state at the moment then I would like to test it out.
Is there a need to modify the binary to get it upload for WE800G to test if it is working or not?

Any pointers are welcome.

Note:
If everything I attempt should fail then from http://wiki.openwrt.org/TableOfHardware :
# Untested - should work in theory but never tested (for additional
hardware support, the developers are always happy to accept donations)

What needed to be donated to get the Motorola WE800G supported by the
OpenWRT?

Check the GPL source from Motorola, if it exists and find out the needed pattern, so that the webupgrade will allow an installation. Of course it would be better to connect a serial mod.

At least one router to a developer who like to work on it.

As a developer and hardware junkie, I would accept one :}
You will never get a guarantee, but you can verify what I have done in the past with some donations.. (netgear wgt634u, linksys wag54g)

For myself, I would be happier with a WR850G v2/v3, if someone has one to offer. It's a shame how many ppl have problems with it..

I have access to WE800G and WR850G V2 and I am willing to donate these, but as I live in Estonia then the shipping will likely cost several times more than buying one locally.

You're not that far away wink TBH, none of these units available here, in Hungary sad
