Can you create the following directories :
/var/lib/iptraf
/var/run/iptraf
and test again ?
thanks nico that worked 100%
Update: cant seem to change the settings and exit
ok, good to hear, but we'll have to find a way to make it work out-of-the-box...
I use PPPoE with a DSL Modem on a WRT54GS 1.0 (98% sure about that, may be 1.1)
Line: 3084Up/384kbit/s down
OpenWRT WR RC3
The Speed on device ppp0 is not correct, the download rate is always below 2000kbit/s,
although my local client shows a speed at 360kbyte/s (2.880kbit/s)
I have tested this with wget/Linux and Getright/Windows (which also shows the real download speed).
This utility is GREAT. I love it. Can I see kbits/s per IP address with this baby?
Bug: The Configure menu hangs. Can't get out of it without shutting down terminal and reconnecting and re-running. Is this a known problem?

I can confirm the configure menu bug. I'm having the same problem. Any idea whats wrong?
The iptraf package available here doesn't have the configure menu bug: http://www.katastrophos.net/wrt54g/packages/
You will need to install the ncurses package on that page for it as well though.

Did you make something particular in order not to get this configuration menu bug ?

Those packages aren't mine. I found them by searching the forums for iptraf.
I can confirm both the startup bug and the configuration bug. This program is a lifesaver, though, and it runs on the most helpful place it could: the router. Thank you for this.
Wow, this thread is two years old, I just noticed. I guess the bugs aren't getting fixed...
The discussion might have continued from here.
