Topic: WDS over WPA - different SSIDs - possible ?

The content of this topic has been archived on 4 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

I got 2 OpenWRT boxes to use a routed WDS link, while using WPA encryption.

It seems that I must use the same SSID for both units or the WDS link gets broken.
Without WPA - it's easy to use different SSIDs for each box.

Is there a way to make WDS with WPA work when using different SSIDs ?

Can we run one instance of nas for the AP and another for the WDS link ?  How ?

Thanks,

Yahel.

This is the way WPA works.....try to :

 ps |grep "nas"

As you see - after the "-s" your SSID is....since the nas stuff is what actuately brings your WPA encryption, you cant get it running with "same WPA encryption" og different SSID's.
