Topic: Can't get openwrt on my DG834GT

The content of this topic has been archived on 6 May 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

Hi guys,

I tried very hard to get my router running but I cant figure out how.

I have started with the tuto here http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/netgear/dg834gt
Everything works well till the end but after that its impossible to access the router, neither on telnet nor http.
I, of course, tried the 3 firmware versions proposed.

Then i decided to break in through the back door: serial. I get a lot of lines that I frankly don't get at all but i can't type anything in the minicom console and same for hyperterminal.

Can someone tell me how to telnet the board correctly, perhaps I didn't do it right.
Actually I said telnet but if there are other ways I take them.

How i tried to telnet the board:
plugged into my router: No new device connected.
plugged into my laptop with fix IP 192.168.1.100 and tried to telnet 192.168.1.1, I tried those because of the first lines of serial:
Board IP address                : 192.168.1.1:ffffff00
Host IP address                 : 192.168.1.100

I also found another .bin on the INTERNET I made the image and flash but guess what... no result either.

I also tried to restore the netgear firmware and it worked.

Thanks,

Clement

Ok, I'm getting somewhere.
My serial console actually works. A wire was on a wrong spot and on my minicom conf there was the flow control activated.

I'll try to flash from there and I'll let you know.

Bobiscoum, did you successfully flash your DG834GT (version, file used,...)?

Are you using the router? What works, or doesn't?

Any feedback would be appreciated (as well as document the thread, could help others ...)

Thanks, PEP
