Hello Everyone:
i have been using openwrt for a while, but for honestly, I am still confused about this tools, like hostapd, wpad,iw and iwconfig.
in the description
hostapd and wpad looks like doing the same work, what is the different between these two tools?
and also iw ,iwconfig, i see the man page about this tool command, they are all use to config the wireless interface of a device, any difference between them?

I use backfire 10.03+ ath5k + atheros nic
thank you very much.

hostapd is the software ap daemon, wpad is a hostapd + wpa_supplicant multicall binary. hostapd-mini and wpad-mini are stripped down versions without openssl dependency. iwconfig is a legacy wireless config utility for the wext api, iw is a new wireless config utility for the nl80211 api.
