It's newer and I had pretty much the same errors you were seeing, I can at least get a system up that I can access via serial and also the LAN port.

This image worked a treat!

At least I can now get to busy box and I have managed to change the password.
I still have to spend more time looking at the wifi and lan.

Thanks for your help!

@Equat10n:
I have around the same problem. But something goes wrong with serial console. Can you instruct me how you connected/setup it ?
My setup:
WR710N - V1.1   -> after flashing the factory.bin file it was crashed (only the power-led goes shortly on once)
Now I have soldered 3 pins and connected them to a TTL/232 Converter:
TP_IN - Rx ; TP_OUT - Tx ; GND - Gnd
This Converter is plugged via USB/232 Adapter to my notebook.
Within vmware-linux i have started minicom  ( /dev/ttyUSB0, 115200-8N1, HW-Flow=yes, SW-Flow=no )

When I power on the router I only see a lot of cryptical letters . I look like wrong baudrate - but I tried other rates without effect.

Can you tell me your setup ?

thank you

You have to make sure you have the right ttl to usb converter first.
RS232 is normally 12v so the voltage might be too high.

The router uses 3.3v so your usb converter must also use 3.3v.

I used putty in windows for the serial console with the settings 115200, 8N1, xon/xoff.

The best guide i found was here:
http://jean-marc.paratte.ch/articles/op … tl-wr710n/

Google translate does a good job.
If you need to you will have to translate the "checklist" section seperatley.

Good luck!

Today I received:
Hardware Version: WR710N v2.1

Flash is 8 MB, but no compatible OpenWrt image to flash... )-;
Its officially confirmed that the WR710N v2.1 does have 8 MB of flash.
Tried: "openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr710n-v1-squashfs-factory.bin" without success:

TP Link:
Error
Error code: 18005
Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name.
Any idea?

Der WR710N in der V2.1 mit 8MB Flash (eigentlich die Wiederauflage der V1.2) ist in den nächsten Tagen über den normalen Distributionskanal erhältlich.

Hi, I managed to get trunk firmware into my V2.1 router by doing the following changes to my trunk setup:

Change the standard settings in target/linux/ar71xx/image/Makefile

define Device/tl-wr710n-v1
    $(Device/tplink-8mlzma)
    BOARDNAME := TL-WR710N
    DEVICE_PROFILE := TLWR710
    TPLINK_HWID := 0x07100002
    TPLINK_HWREV := 0x00000002
    CONSOLE := ttyATH0,115200
endef

But what I have shown here is just a temporary fix, since the V2.1 version is as I understand the same as V1.2 except that that the HWREV is increased from 1 to 2.

Both V1.x , and V2.1 has 8 Mb of flash, but V2.0 has only 4Mb so I don't know what is the best way of defining this in the Makefile.

Since I'm a total newbie at messing around with the source code, is there someone who can commit a correct change to trunk?

Does anyone know if the TL-WR710N supports VLAN? The bootloader suggests it is loaded but I've had no luck.

Yes via the integrated switch at least, see my guide here.

This issue still persists, I haven't got a build environment ATM is there a persistent way around this on the cards yet?

I also have Hardware Version: WR710N v2.1

Best

I have the same issue, v1.2 firmware does not fit for v2.1! Can someone update the table of hardware page (https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr710n) with a CC-factory image usable for v2.1?

Greetings

Any updates on CC on ver 2.1? The DD version has problems with PPTP...

UPDATE:
Ok, I got PPTP Client working on DD Trunk build, I needed to also install kmod-nf-nathelper-extra:
https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/vpn.nat.pptp

I don't remember if I needed that in CC, anyway, it seems to work.

Hello,

i have the TL-WR710N(EU) V. 1.0. Is my hardware compatible with openwrt?
I cannot find my device in the table of hardware.
