No, it's not.

Yes, at least for first reflash.

I am new to this distro and I apologize if I missed something. 

I used the serial/u-boot/tftp method to flash the most resent attitude_adjustment which came off just fine.  I bootstrapped the build system and added a few items if interest and ended up with a new .bin image.

Is the serial/u-boot/tftp the only supported method for flashing for the XDX RN502J?

I tried the following methods as per the wiki for this platform without success:

- web interface
- sysupgrade
- mtd write

I was under the impression one of those methods would work after the first flash.  I read about converting bin to trx by taking off the first 32 bytes which seems totally wrong.  Could someone set me straight on this?

You must use the *-sysupgrade.bin output, not the -factory.bin. It should work from the web interface and sysupgrade. I have never used mtd for flashing.

elecnix, sysmatck and others: is gpio-12 KNOWN to be the reset button? Is is that just what was put in the machine c file?
Also, it may be set to lo on activate rather than the other way round.
Try cat /sys/kernel/debug/gpio with/without the reset button pressed and see which gpio changes: that will confirm which gpio actually is the reset button.

There's nothing that changes if I compare /sys/kernel/debug/gpio with/without pressing the reset button.

I initial used the image from attitude_adjustment rc1 for which there was only a *-sysupgrade.bin.  Similarly, once I had my own build there was a *-sysupgrade.bin image I used as follows:

sysupgrade:
cd /tmp
wget http://myhost:8888/openwrt-ramips-rt305x-xdxrn502j-squashfs-sysupggrade.bin -O firmware.bin

root@OpenWrt:/tmp# sysupgrade /tmp/firmware.bin
Sysupgrade is not yet supported on xdxrn502j.
Image check 'platform_check_image' failed.

I thought it might be because I did not pull md5sums into /tmp, but that did not make it go either.

mtd: 
The wiki says ...
mtd -r write /tmp/firmware.bin linux

What worked in my case was ...
root@OpenWrt:/tmp# mtd -r write /tmp/firmware.bin firmware


luci:
"The uploaded image file does not contain a supported format. Make sure that you choose the generic image format for your platform."

I have since reflashed and everything was cool and have little more space to move into with a usb flash, but I was missing luci so I have not tried it again but from what I understand luci uses sysupgrade.   

Not sure what is going on with sysupgrade flashing method.

Hi all!
I bought this unfinished device UPVEL UR-326N4G  based on Ralink 3052.
And I flashed it with OpenWrt firmware from vendor.
And I upgraded openwrt firmware from luci web-interface to new version from trunk

And now its device in down.
I don't able connect to lan and wan ports.
But I connected via wifi and login via ssh. router ip was 192.168.10.1

I play'd with VLAN configuration in /etc/config/network. Now my router is brick. :-( No wifi, no lan no wan,,,,

Hi

I download tftpgui in linux mint.
I download openwrt-ramips-rt305x-xdxrn502j-initramfs-uImage and openwrt-ramips-rt305x-xdxrn502j-squashfs-sysupgrade
I put this image in tftproot and I start the service.

I get into terminal and I configure usb serial with minicom -s

ttyusb0
57600 bauds, 8,N, 1.

I save it and exit minicom

But nothing happen. Uboot don't appear

What's going on?
