Since Linux is actually just the kernel, the /proc directory structure looks exactly the same to me on both my WRT boxes and all my other Linux based systems. Of course you surely mean all the other directories. What exactly do you find all that different and which Linux based distro are you comparing it to? I find things pretty much where I expect them.

IMHO, the main difference between OpenWRT and other *N[ui]X is the use of nvram variable vs configuration files.
