Topic: How to commit firewall.user change?

The content of this topic has been archived on 13 Mar 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

Yes, I'm a bit of a newb at this.

I read DemilitarizedZoneHowto on the Wiki.  I made changes to the firewall.user file - first remving the symbolic link, copying the file from rom, then edited and saved with vi.

What is the best way to make these changes take effect?  Is there anything I need to do at this point before rebooting?  Is it possible to use the changes without a reboot?

Thanks.

It seems that just running "sh ./firewall.user" took care of things.  Any comments or better ideas?

It's described in the OpenWrt FAQ.

Users really, really have to read the documentation in the Wiki.

Thanks for the reply.  I think you meant "have TO read".  Just F.Y.I., I read the FAQ.  (And searched the Wiki, the forums, IRC logs, web, etc...)  Yes, "rerun the script" probably should've ringed the bell, but it didn't at the time, hence the posting.

There are other issues here regarding support for different types of users, some which were actively discussed on the IRC channel last night, but this is not the time or place to go into details.

The discussion might have continued from here.
