Hi,ppl.
Some tips about overclocking MR3420v2
AR9341 may proper functionality on 600 or higher frequency. I got the 700MHz on my device, but this need some operation.
1. Stable 600MHz may only with CPU heatsink.
2. Stable 700MHz+ - only with some CPU VRM mod.
The AR9341 may powered by external VRM (mising on board), or internal integrated VRM.
0R resistor is not jumper, its have some resistance, thats produce almost 50mV ripple AC dropout.
Need remove its and solder copper wire jamper, and
Add missing/additional capacitor.

Then need mod u-boot.
I prefer peppe2k u-boot.
https://github.com/pepe2k/u-boot_mod
For AR9341 device with 25MHz crystal (like MR3420V2)
In HEX-editor search line "3C 0C 29 AC 3C 0D 2A 80 " and replace "AC" to "E0" for 600MHz.
"+1 hex" = "+1.25MHz CPU clock".
i.e. 29ACh=535MHZ, 29E0h=600MHz, 2A30h=700MHz
And just flashed the new boot.

Result - almost 350BogoMIPs.

Stability need test in memtester and iperf-mt thru Wi-Fi interface, like iperf -c 192.168.1.1 -P32 -t300
Unstable device rebootet within half of minute.

Without power mod, but whith heatsink I got 650MHz.
For more high frequency, need shorted current path, and more low resistance - wire jumper and additional capacitor.

With external VRM, I think, stable 800MHz - easy.

Hello, what better firmware *.bin for ver 2.2 now? Thanks!

I bought a v2.2 and just flashed openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-mr3420-v2-squashfs-factory.bin from http://openwrt.agromapia.com/firmware/aarc1/

It has Luci out-of-the-box and it's working great big_smile

"This Account Has Been Suspended" sad
Can you posted this firmware again?

Sorry, that version was lost, and it didn't had luci btw sad

I'm trying to find firmware that has luci for v2.2, anyone had luck?

Good evening,

come here for help of you, openwrt installed on my router and now I can not access the net or put back original firmware, someone here can help me?

Thank you

Hi,

Maybe a dumb question, i can't find any information; how can i flash a MR3x20 image to TL-WR841? Similar hardware, but memory addresses differ.
I have a working OpenWRT on my 841, but i have problems with USB port, so i want to try MR3x20 image, for a try.

Should i use upgrade or install image?

Thanks for any help smile

Can you specify between which path i add 2x47uF MLCC ? Picture is not very clear.

Any mod or tweak for overclocking memory? Thanks.

hi, I've a mr3420 v2.4: the problems with usb are solved? where I can get a good openwrt firmware to flash in? All the links on this topic are broken.
the stock one on open wrt website is fine (with usb)?
thanks in advance

ps
basically I only need this router as a wireless repeatere. Now is working with tplink stock firmware but sometimes it hangs and stops to assign an IP...and I use it just to power on/off my heating plant on vacation:
Firmware Version:
3.16.9 Build 150319 Rel.60489n
Hardware Version:
MR3420 v2 00000000

The discussion might have continued from here.
