Hi',
I follow the how to setup OpenWRT on DLink DIR300 and got a useless software on my routeur..
Don't have any WebUI, no DNS settup, basic commands don't work because of outdated stuff.
I had to put the ip of downloads.openwrt.org to get opkg updated.
And then i can't install luci : 404.
WTF ?

Installing luci (trunk+svn9640-1) to root...
Downloading http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/ … heros.ipk.
Collected errors:
* gz_open: fork: Cannot allocate memory.
* opkg_install_pkg: Failed to unpack control files from /tmp/opkg-sQqgVi/luci_trunk+svn9640-1_atheros.ipk.
* opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package luci.

I had the same problem with dir-300. The link to the repository seems to be changed.
In /etc/opkg.conf change
src/gz packages http://downloads.openwrt.org/backfire/1 … s/packages
with
src/gz packages http://downloads.openwrt.org/backfire/1 … s/packages
