Migrate from DD-WRT to OpenWrt
Enable SSH on the router
Login to the router via SSH
Change directory to /tmp and download OpenWrt firmware image file:

cd /tmp
wget http://downloads.openwrt.org/attitude_a … actory.bin

Overwrite current firmware with the downloaded one:

mtd -r write openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v1-squashfs-factory.bin

After flashing, the router should go down for a reboot and return running OpenWrt.

Router default ip is 192.168.1.1
Search this forum for WR1043ND and you will find lots of information

Success

DD-WRT does somes checks on the bin file when using the browser to upgrade the firmware.
By using the mtd command you are waking by these checks.

My TP-WDR3600 updated from dd-wrt to openwrt witouth a problem.

The jffs2 version is mostly used by developpers.
The squashfs version is on version with a readonly filesystem. this is a more safe version for us regular users.
It seems to prefent a bricked router.

I prefer Openwrt because its much more open.
And the forum is opener. At the DD-Wrt forum onegets just anwsers like "Read the ... Manual" or first upgrade etc etc.

And yes some experience is needed to use both DD-WRT or Openwrt. But not every body is as experienced as the senior DD-WRT users.

Thank you

tomorrow test install openwrt

Please do keep us informed. I have an old Liknsys WRT54GS v3.1 flashed with a DD-WRT and would like to flash it with OpenWRT.
