Hey, the build is not yet one month old! ^^

I may build a newer version of CC trunk. I was waiting to get some feedback on opened tickets I saw (#18794 affecting BB is fixed, but #19316 affecting at least r44918 is not yet acknoledged. It seems to be the last ath10k related bug that is not fixed yet.). Plus I saw a couple of huge but transient hickups reported here. Anyway, if someone has tested a newer nightly that seems worthy to test, please give me the release number, I'll get it built and test it.

For now, if using non-DFS related channel (36 to 48), this r44918 build I use is OK.

A release candidate of CC is probably not too far off, with the final hopefully not far behind that

Hey, I have a small question. I installed OpenWRT on Arcer C7 V2, and revert back to TP-Link Firmware (as discribed here: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wdr7500 incl. "cutting" the bin-file).

Can I now install offical TP-Link images like before first OpenWrt or have I to cut off the bootlaoder every time?

use it as if it were stock now - openwrt is gone.

I have an Archer C7 V2; tried the 15.05 RC1, couldn't configure radio0 for 802.11n via LuCI, however it appears I can with the version el_goretto posted.

However, as with the previous release, after configuring OpenWRT radio0 for 802.11n, when I connect to it via windows, it says it is 802.11a, and speeds do not appear to be any faster than on the radio1 802.11g.

Thoughts?

Did you set HTmode to 40 or 80 MHz channels?

So in the GUI / LuCI, I see a 'width' field with 20 and 40 Mhz as the only dropdown options. In LuCI the Mode is set to 'N'.

However, if I do a uci show wireless I see hwmode is 11a and htmode is HT40.

Okay, so if I set htmode to HT80 and hwmode to 11n or 11an with uci, I get "Wireless is disabled or not associated" for radio0, and the SSID does not show up. If I then configure it as mode 'N' in the GUI, it still doesn't work; seems kinda wonky.

radio1 has a hwmode of 11ng.

There was a ticket filed on this and it sounds like you just need to update your opkg files (or do a clean install)

A bit of update about my testings on an archer C5 1.x: it seems that what I saw about DFS (router switching back "at once" to channel 36) is not an issue but how hostapd is implementing DFS compliance (see at the end of this ticket).

On another note, from what I see, after days being up (like 1 or 2 weeks on the 104 channel for example), ath10k gets lots of "failed to process fft report: -22" and a message similar to an older issue supposedly solved "spurious kick out (etc)". I have to reboot the archer c5 or my ac tablet keeps flapping and will eventually go back to 2.4ghz band.

And to end this message: I'll share a new build based on RC1 as soon as I have some spare time.

I was able to build a new image, but I had no time to flash my own router so far.
I wasn't able to get the exact release ID that was tagged "CC RC1", so I didn't bother and got the latest sources available (r45784, so the build is probably slightly "post rc1").
Anyway, it available here aside previous builds.

I did my homework and, as i understood, C5 and C7 share the exact same hardware when it's about C5 v 1.xx and C7 V2...Is that a good asumption ?
Well...i tried to read all the posts, quite quickly i must confess, and i saw this statement :

"For the Archer C7 v1.x and WDR7500 v2.x, the 5GHz 802.11a/n/ac functionality is not supported, and likely will never be, since support for the AR1A (v1) variant of QCA9880 chip is not included in the open source ath10k driver"

I'm very sorry if it's been discusded earlyer but if do understand, i "potentialy" can get the same hardware, buying a C5 over a C7...Right ?

As i understand, both C5 and C7 are fully suported respectively in 1.X and 2.0 revisions.

I actually bought 2 C5 and am waiting for them
to be delivered.

Im also did not know what about C5. Works or not? I cant live with an 5Ghz Problem because i have a wife and i cant teach her how to login and start 5ghz wink big_smile.

I have an Archer C7 v2 that runs Chaos Calmer RC2 (r45918). So far no problems, I had problems with packetloss on the 5 GHz radio under Barrier Breaker, no such problems on CC. Performance is sub par as there is no hardware accel, but I get ~25 MB/s to my laptop (intel 7260). Latency is great though, only about 1.4 ms latency.

I have an Archer C7 v.2 running Chaos Calmer RC2. Lots of packet loss on the 5 GHz radio. Repeatedly see 'disconnected due to excessive missing ACKs'. This band is not usable. Happens on 2.4 GHz to a lesser extent. Does not happen straight away, but rather after a couple of hours.

It's not exactly the subject, but for those interested, i flashed a archer C5 v 1.2 with archer C7 v2 firmware...
everything works perfectly except i can't update firmware with GUI.
I'll post news as soon as i 'll figure it out.

Archer C7 v2 running Chaos Calmer rc2, so far no noticeable packet loss over 5180MHz (80MHz width).

I was able to sustain these speeds (47MB/s) in different rooms (red) and the same room (yellow) from ramdisk to ext4 (red/yellow) and ramdisk (green/purple, those are the same transfer) with the sftp host on gige directly plugged into the router and my laptop on 5Ghz ac:

Is anyone getting faster speeds with 160MHz? I think I'm being limited here by my laptop's mediocre intel 802.11ac card (or its number of antennas), but I haven't tested extensively.

Max wireless n speeds over 5GHz were 12MB/s. Wireless-to-wireless transfers worked significantly better when one node was on 2.4GHz n and the other was on 5GHz ac (around 7MB/s, which I thnk was limited by the 2.4GHz n, because around 8MB/s was my best ethernet -> 2.4GHz n speed).

Haven't tested latency or my connection to the outside world yet, don't have cable (DSL at the moment, ew) until tomorrow.

Hi,

I'm making new builds based on r46284 (post rc2). I'll test it pretty soon on my archer C5 (DL link in my signature).
Biggest changes: it seems openwrt switched from µclibc to musl. And I've enabled Eliptic Curves Cryptography in dropbear.

As for 5GHz status: previous r45784 build was working great, though I had sometimes to reboot it after a couple of weeks  because 5GHz would completely cease to function.

i'm having drops with CC RC2 on Archer C7 v2, only on 5ghz, it's unusable under load.
