Hi, this is my first post.
I want to know if OpenWRT is able to run on a TP-LINK TL-WDR4300 (hardware version: 1.5) and what version of firmware should I use.
Thanks in advance.

http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wdr4300
It seems that versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 are supported but there is no information about 1.5
Did anybody try it?

I just installed openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr4300-v1-squashfs-factory.bin and then Luci interface:

It seems that everything works fine.

Did you installed AA (r36088) or a trunk version? I currently use AA with v1.5 with some small issues, however it can be some client problems as well. If trunk version works fine, i'll give a try...

Changing the channels will randomly disable wireless and require connecting a computer with Ethernet to fix it. Trunk seems to be working otherwise. I'll compare with stock firmware later.

Any workaround for that?
Seems to be a "show stopper" for me. sad It happens every few minutes and makes the router unusable.

Hey guys I have a problem.
I have a WDR4300 1.6 and flashed the "openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr4300-v1-squashfs-factory.bin"
The router starts and the power and astersik go on, but I cant establish a connection to the router or the internet.

I think I flashed the wrong firmware, how can I get it to work again?

thanks.

I can log in to it via failsafemode and rs232 usb cable, but I cant ping it or open the site (192.168.1.1)

Can I flash an Image with the Failsafemode with R232?

Thanks.

You need to install the trunk release of Breaking Barrier on the v1.6

since you already have an image on the box you will likely need to use the sysupgrade version provided you can get network to upload it or hope you can go back to the stock firmware

I have a v1.6 and currently running this

I managed to flash the stock image back via Luci. Is it normal that Luci only can be accessed if you connect via RS232 and select failsafemode?
With the stock image there is a huge problem with the wired devices. They cant establish a network connection to the router or the internet anymore. LAN doesnt work either.
Thats why I wanted to try openwrt again. I flashed the factory image you linked, but have the same problem like at the beginning.
I cant establish a connection to the router, the asterisk is solid - no blinking.

this is kind of strange.

EDIT:
Got it to work, it seems my Cat5e cable is faulty. Although my old MSI RG300 EX Router had no issues with it.

You should consider cat6 cable as it's widely used by phone service providers and it is a future proof investment in long run.

I solved the downgrade problem from the US software version TL-WDR4300_V1_151104_US for TP Link wrt4300 to TL-WDR4300_V1_150518 First of all download the open source US version ' TL-WDR4300_V1_151104_US ' that allow you to update other firmware - from the link below.

Download link:
http://we.tl/naw76a7OZk

After that go to the firmware update form the main router window and update this version. Restart ther update new version depends of your country form the official site.

If you want just softwere reset (No matter what software you had installed on it) check the youtube link below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hWT35w6sVI TP LINK WRT4300 Success.

The discussion might have continued from here.
