The content of this topic has been archived on 24 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

I tried to install replace the original firmware of TL-WR1043ND with Openwrt.  I followed the steps (http://wiki.communifi.ca/index.php/TL-W … stallation).  At the end of firmware upgrade, it said successful and wait for reboot.  Then I am no longer be able to log in to the router.  I configured my NIC to 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0 and connected it to the LAN port 1 of the router but I cannot get the log in screen.   I tried 30-30-30 reset and it ddn't help.  Can anyone help?  Please...

Thanks a lot.

try failsafe

30-30-30 is for dd-wrt

Hi, so far I have no luck to debrick WE1043ND but I managed to install OpenWrt on DLINK DIR601.

Same thing happened to me...

I think the only to debrick is accessing it by TTL.

Good luck!

Hi there,

I managed to connect to the router by TTL.  I tried to flash the firmware but using TFTP but keep getting timed out.  The following is the communication appeared on PuTTY

ar7100> tftpboot 0x81000000 code.bin
Using eth0 device
TFTP from 192.168.0.5; our IP address is 192.168.0.2
Filename 'code.bin'.
Load address: 0x81000000
Loading: T T T T T T T T T T
Retry count exceeded; starting again
Using eth0 device

...
and then repeat and repeat.
...

Can anyone help????

obviously on your pc with address 192.168.0.5 you have a tftp server with the code.bin file?

can you do a "tftp get" from another pc to ensure the server is working?

also, try every port (including wan)

Thanks for reply.  How can I tell if control does communicate with TFTP?  I purposely change the file name to abc.bin and it doesn't prompt me file name wrong nor not available.  It just simply replaces code.bin to abc.bin.

in wiki,  it mentioned the following:

"An example of an image file with the word "boot" in it is wr1043nv1_en_3_9_17_up_boot(091118).bin.

Cut the first 0x20200 (that is 131,584 = 257*512) Bytes from original firmware"

Would this be thr reason?

no, the tftp transfer should work in any case!
just DO NOT FLASH a file containing boot in the name wink

i cannot understand if you can test the tftp server with a tftp client from another pc, and if you tried every port on the router...

I tried every port but still getting the same result.  Can you show me how to tftp get from another computer?

Thanks... going to to view the demo immediately

Ok, I tried to use tftp client to get a file from tftp server and it works.  Any other clue how to troubleshoot?  Thanks a lot.
