Ram,
From:
http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/firewall
Example:
Opening a port:
add this to /etc/config/firewall for SSH access inbound from wan. (note: you need to run the passwd command to enable ssh and disable telnet)
config rule
option src wan
option dest_port 22
option target ACCEPT
option proto tcp
It would also be a good idea to lock it down by source ip by adding:
option src_ip 10.55.34.85
then run 'fw reload'

HI pjfrase,
Really appreciate the help, After configuring these in target router from where Can I access this router? how to configure the source router or computer
(please bear with my qns as Im newbie)
Thanks for reply
no worries.
I dont suggest posting your public IP address here but is your router directly connected to the internet or is there a NAT device in between the router and the internet.
Hi Pjfrase
Yes I have an intermediate modem between my internet and router. I have enabled the options you listed, now how do I control this? through luci of another router ?? or opening an ip from my remote computer?
thanks for reply
1) You need to know your external Internet address, the IP your Internet router has. You can check that with sites like Network Tools. This IP usually changes every 24 hours, you can only find it out when you are within the local network, so it's easier to use some DynDNS service.
2) You have to forward the ports you want to use on your Internet router. You have to set those setting in the GUI, for example forward port 22 for SSH from your Internet router to your OpenWrt device.
3. If you connect your OpenWrt device through a WAN port, which is usually the external interface, which is more secured and locked down, you have to enable the access to the port in the firewall.
uci add firewall rule
uci set firewall.@rule[-1].src=wan
uci set firewall.@rule[-1].target=ACCEPT
uci set firewall.@rule[-1].proto=tcp
uci set firewall.@rule[-1].dest_port=22
uci commit firewall
/etc/init.d/firewall restartHi bulepuma,
Thanks for the reply, Will try it out
