notes:

Put dl_hosts.sh in /etc

Make dl_hosts.sh executable

Run "/etc/dl_hosts.sh &" from your startup

Hello,

I am new here but I am not new to openwrt. Some time ago I have been on this forum but I forgot my username and password and also probably lost the e-mail that I registered with. So any way I made this username because I do not understand some thing. I really do not. I mean I thought every thing was O.K. when I flashed the router with rc3 v1 but even when I was setting up the router in luci I noticed that some times pages had to be reloaded because the connection broke. I did not think much of it as I supposed the router just took some more time to reboot due to changes that I made in the settings so it was only the next day that I realized that this was going to be a huge issue because I was getting this error all the time:

Yeah, I am using sabayon. So here is the thing. It only affects me for some reason. I guess the router just hates me now for some reason because there is one more person at the moment using this internet connection and it does not affect her at all which is great because she would make such a fuss over it that I would have to flash it back to the default firemware. At first I just could not understand why she is not already knocking on my door until I saw the logs from the router and gathered that it was only affecting me I was really edgy for that whole day. I have not told her that I changed the firemware on the router but the fact that she has not come complaining about the internet tells me that the openwrt firemware must be working good.

So what is happening is that some pages just do not open up the first time. I have to refresh the page one or even two times and in between I am thinking that maybe the router is dropping the internet connection or some thing and then I eventually get the page. The router seems to work fine except for one led light but I figure that I would be able to fix that once I look into it. Any way it is almost impossible to browse the net like this. For instance I wanted to log today into mail.com and it would not allow me to log in. I tried to update my sabayon installation and it also did not work. I just can not find those ftp links. Basically it sucks. This needs to be the first thing that I have to fix on this router. So guys tell me what I need to do?

I searched google a bit and I found some links to dd-wrt and there is another link to some guy who did some thing funny with his configuration but I have done nothing like that. My configuration is basic and I am using DHCP.

I would start off by changing the cable between your PC and the router.

The cable is not the problem. Before with the linksys firmware every thing was working just fine. Also I provided the logs from the router which shows that my computer gets the error: ignoring domain. The log is full with just this error. It shows nothing else but the same error repeated over and over again. Do not tell me that the problem is with the cable. This is a very ignorant answer.

Hello, folks got a quick few questions if anyone can answer. Tried to find it in the midst of all the posts here, and on the Wiki but needless to say being quite new here half this stuff I'm trying to figure out. These wikis are not very newbe friendly (unless you know some stuff already).

With that said I recently flashed an old G router with DD-WRT, and it is awesome, the DD-WRT that is, the router sucks.
I had purchased this wrt1200ac thinking that I read somewhere that you could put DD-WRT on it, and low and behold you cant. So I'd like to install openwrt, to basically get the options that I have with DD-DRT. And like I said half this stuff is going over my head on this site.
Now 1st off, where do I find the version of my router? All the other routers that I have in the house have a clear sticker showing the version, I have no stickers on this wrt1200ac?

2nd what exactly am I supposed to flash this router with? I found 2 different Wiki pages, linking to multiple different images.
Anyway I'm thinking it is the image on this page that I'm supposed to flash? Assuming I have version1 that is. http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/linksys/wrt1900ac


I want to be able to just flash it, make it work, set some settings through the GUI and get this up and running.

hi,
i was using McWRT attitude_adjustment image and it worked  (wrt1900ac v1 mamba )
but now every time I try to update to any Chaos Calmer image router wont boot
flashing back Linksys stock  or McWRT  image with TTL works just fine
i tried many difrent CC images every time ending with bricked router

So a quick update on my situation. Yesterday I managed to fix the led light that was blinking all the time but the problem with my connection persists. I have done a ping test that I want to share with you. I have done one ping test from the router so that you can see that my internet connection is O.K. and then I did another ping test from my computer and there you can see that some thing is not O.K.

First the ping from the router:

This is why I am having problems with opening websites. 40% packet loss!!! Yesterday in the evening in fact I could not browse the net at all but for some reason the connection to the router was nice and crisp. I did all sorts of changes to it with out needing to reload a single page. Kind of funny when I think about it. It makes no sense at all. I just do not understand I guess!

WRT1200AC is supported in next release (Chaos Calmer 15.05). It is still being developed and current official testing release is RC3.

wrt900ac wiki page you found is quite useful. See http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/linksys/wrt … ecommended. There is a link to the wrt1200ac image (https://downloads.openwrt.org/chaos_cal … actory.img). AFAIK, there is only one hardware version of wrt1200ac. That being the v1.

Now 1st off, where do I find the version of my router? All the other routers that I have in the house have a clear sticker showing the version, I have no stickers on this wrt1200ac?

2nd what exactly am I supposed to flash this router with? I found 2 different Wiki pages, linking to multiple different images.
Anyway I'm thinking it is the image on this page that I'm supposed to flash? Assuming I have version1 that is. http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/linksys/wrt1900ac


I want to be able to just flash it, make it work, set some settings through the GUI and get this up and running.

I am walking a dog right now, but please wait before flashing anything.  If you're inexperienced with OpenWrt, you'll find yourself in quite a mess if you flash the wrong image.

If you're going ahead, I'd recommend you use this image:

Just so you know Mamba and Cobra are the WRT1900ACs and Caiman is the WRT1200AC.  There is only one version of the WRT1200AC at this point, which is why you were unable to find a version number.

I recently noticed that too. My wifi speeds ,at least on the 5GHZ are around half of what i used to get like four months ago.
Im already on higher channels 153, 80MHZ, using AES encrption... Currently on trunk r46407 with the latest mlwifi driver in place
