Here's what I've noticed so far... I've been testing with wireless AC disabled... so far so good... with AC on its been having issues with the entire router becoming unstable and load levels that continue to increase over time...

Which image are you using? Theirs or your own?

Using the image posted here https://github.com/wrt1900ac/opensource which is Barrier-Breaker

Still running stable with AC turned off... which I can live with...

Sorry for the noob questions but I'm new to the openWRT firmware. I've used Tomato and DD-WRT before.

Can you point me in the right direction for putting a compilation together like yours? I'm ok with the AC not working as I only have one device that's compatible at the moment.

Also, is there a reset trick in this router to keep it from bricking? I'm familiar with the 30/30/30 used on Broadcom devices, but never dealt with a Marvel unit before.

Info is in the thread, building info is at the github url you linked.

The WIFI isn't stable, might want to wait a bit.

Ok thanks. I viewed the github on a mobile device, maybe I missed it. Thanks again

Request the full desktop page, or load the readme, info is there.  I even included a .config a few pages back.

Yea I agree... I wouldn't flash this image.. I got it working better with out AC but it still has a lot issues...

Thank's for the update. I'll hold until you guys find a stable build.

First, nyt, thanks for the details on flipping between the two firmware images-- I tested it this morning (just in case given I no longer have a USB to serial converter-- got to order one!) and it works like a dream... will likely use that to keep flashing over the same firmware leaving the LinkSys firmware in place.

Also looks like /lib/upgrade/platform.sh can be tweaked to prevent nuking the alternate firmware.

I've been running my image most of this morning thus far--- connected via N (and have not disabled AC) and haven't seen any issues thus far. I just moved a couple of larger files around (300+MB) and no issues seen yet. Have switched a couple of machines over-- we'll see how it progresses through the day.

On 5ghz I get disconnected within seconds.  Default config, just changed AP names.  on 2.4ghz, it can go minutes sometimes during a transfer.

I've also noticed that sometimes rebooting with the reboot commands end up causing the system to boot the alternate partition.  I think something is weird with the uboot env scripts still that determine which partition gets booted.

Maybe I'll run their stock firmware (not openwrt) and see if it does the same.  Perhaps I have a defective unit, though I doubt it.

I noticed the same thing but it only happens after the system has been running a while.. Also have you noticed that all MAC addresses are randomly generated each time the system is rebooted..?

Yes, I'll be hard setting these.  Annoying.

Seems I need to review what they have set for filesystem support-- didn't recognize an ext4 usb drive I tried to mount.

I'm seeing some random wifi issues (still on 2.4). Every so often (3 times in 3 hours so far) network traffic seems to die... but then recovers by itself within 60 seconds.

Just started to install some tools on the router to try and troubleshoot. Nothing in dmesg.

Yep, nothing in dmesg or log output when it fails.  I was able to mount a usb drive with their image.  Just had to mount /dev/sda /mountpoint -t ext4

Looks like the github repo was just nuked and replaced with patches. Doesn't seem like they know what they are doing just throwing up tars of patches

yeah, what a clusterfsck.

Was just looking at it.. any easy way to patch everything I don't know about in OpenWrt? Or just a little shell scripting?

No joy.

Kind of figured. Any closer this time?

Same issue with the wifi disconnects is present until re-associating.  I did a bunch of tests on the far side of my house, xfering at around 30mbps without hitting the bug.  Got closer to the router and ran a test, was getting 80mbps and hit the bug pretty quickly.

Looks like they toggled a debugging bit in the wifi driver.  I get this message on connecting.

[ 3484.052151] Received IE 191!! - vht_Cap = f805932, vht_MaxRxMcs = fffe
[ 3484.083692] WLAN(wdev1ap0): MLME - Wireless client connected: bcf5ace05a99

I've been on the Attitude Adjustment prebuilt binary, and it's been pretty stable.  The only 802.11ac device I have is a Nexus 5 and I can run Speedtest several times without disconnects.

What what speeds?  Only get the issue with 70-80+mbps transfers here.
