Your repo share was from time to time not available and slow. Is it at home?

Yes it is. Last night (From 10pm to 7am GMT+1) i got my home NAS stormed by some backup loops and nearly freezed up all my network. Some of my resources, including my openwrt website got impacted cause it's on a NFS share.

@mrfrezee

I could offer you a space on my vps. I have unlimited 100 mbit direct access and 200gb ssd or I have unused webspace I am paying for just because of domain. How much would you need if you are interested?

Could you try installing 'kmod-ata-ahci'?

Thanks!

Thank you!

I just checked what is installed by default on snapshot. We have now both the same kmod-usb and kmod-ata packages installed but still nothing on usb2 port...

Now i guess its something inside /proc.. But what and where?
Does anybody have more knowledge than I have on this? (for sure :-) )Where to start to check the differences?

Regards,

Hello everybody,

I'm bit new here and currently learning as much as i can about openwrt.
So far i managed to create a custom firmware using trunk files and make menuconfig, etc.

Most important question i have, what would be the absoluut minimum selection to enable a linksys wrt1900acs (shelby) to at least boot up and be accesible with ssh via ethernet? Like to start from minimum as possible configuration while not bricking the router.

eg. i really don't need ipv6, ppp, etc and i absolutely need squashfs.

Hope anyone can help me or can give me some good documentation about what every option in make menuconfig means.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,

no something about usb tethering witch iphone 6 plus.

I have this isseu now for a long time and posted several times before about it without any solution.

All package are installed like the howto for USB tethering dicribe it.

In systemlog i can see that the phone where found:

Wed Apr 20 14:20:30 2016 kern.info kernel: [  130.632746] usb 1-1: USB disconnect, device number 2
Wed Apr 20 14:20:36 2016 kern.info kernel: [  136.700498] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 3 using xhci-hcd
Wed Apr 20 14:20:36 2016 kern.warn kernel: [  136.903313] usb 1-1: ep 0x2 - rounding interval to 8 microframes, ep desc says 10 microframes
Wed Apr 20 14:20:36 2016 kern.warn kernel: [  136.911900] usb 1-1: ep 0x81 - rounding interval to 8 microframes, ep desc says 10 microframes

But cdc ether is not assigning some kind of network device.

If I add the network interface than nothing is happening if I aktivate the device.

When I plug in the phone than it is asking for permission for the router.

What is wrong hier? I thought before that the kernel 3.18 was maybe to old for the iphone 6 plus, but it is the same now with kernel 4.4.7.

Can anybody help?

Thanks,
Regards,

Just use the snapshot image, thats almost the minimum. But there is a problem with the esata / usb port combi. No device is found at this port using usb.

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
I understand that snapshot image is almost minimum. but still there are some options that are not needed.
Like ipv6, ppp, etc. Therefore i would like to know what is absoluut minimum before bricking my 1900acs router (if that's even possible).

@Remco

Uninstall them. Ipv6 is everywhere implemented like I know.

You get more in danger to brick the 1900 acs if you build your own without having the experience to do it. I work now with this device a couple of month and havent started yet to build self.

Arokh build works! Sata and usb2.0

I could offer you a space on my vps. I have unlimited 100 mbit direct access and 200gb ssd or I have unused webspace I am paying for just because of domain. How much would you need if you are interested?

I'm planning to export my releases to a dedicated server (i work for an hosting company, should be easy to find) but i lack free time to do so.

About that usb2 issue, same thing, i usually don't have free time (hear it as openwrt dev' time) during weekdays. I'll probably investigate the issue this weekend.

Rgds,

Rgds,

Thank you, but I didn't wrote this just for you! It looks like this is a problem which effects not just your release!
If I ask something I write it to everybody in hope somebody have the solution.

Yes, should then not be a problem to find some space. I just had in my mind to support some how.

How can we send here pm's? Thought it is not neccessary to post every word in public.

This board doesn't support pm's for some reason... never has.

Could you try installing 'kmod-ata-ahci'?

My output on CC looks like this (may include some packages installed afterwards).

Have you tried installing kmod usb storage extras?

Thanks!

Regards,

Have you tried installing kmod usb storage extras?

Yes i did. now i have all the packages installed like from the list regarding storage and drivers.

Still nothing! But it is not just hdd which is not recognized, i tried my mobile as well. Nothing!

I know I had the same issue on a WRT1200ac I bought for someone else, and if arokh doesn't have the issue in his firmware, I'd ask him on his thread what he did in order to get it to work

Please limit whenever it's possible quotes bbcodes (if the post you're responding was the last one, no need to paste all the infos). Or at least truncate it to keep only the useful information.

Also FYI: The failed backup loop bullsh*t from yesterday's night got one of my disks cooked. The RAID6 is currently doing it's job but i have to wait for the replacement drive to be delivered. My repo will experience heavy IO waits because of the missing disk until the new drive arrives and the RAID reconstruction (about 10Tb of data) is complete.

Edit 1: I plugged an external disk to the NAS and moved the pool with the repos and releases on it. Should be more stable now.

That explains all the timeouts i had today.  A lot of times it just breaked away during update for eksampel.

If it take long time until your raid is functional again i could mirror for that time if you like to.

Some are telling you should always qvote (other forum). I begun today with the qvoting, usually i don't do that.

I'm in the middle of building a new image and was wondering if the led issue has been fixed (i.e. currently only a single white led option is available, trunk build from feb 7).

I do know there was a bug report filed months back that was closed, however, even after editing the leds.mk file, I was still unable to get a second option. let alone amber to show.

Re: led bug
I think the note at the bottom regarding the default DD kernel is correct. Did a new build with 4.4.8 today and all leds are working.

Edit:
My understanding was that 4.1 was broken, but I have not run the kernel in some time so not quite sure.

Re-reading the bug report, it's not clear about 4.1... is it only in 4.4.x that it's working now, or does it also work in 4.1?

I'm currently running David C's OpenWrt Designated Driver r48158 / LuCI Master (git-16.004.80366-03a8393) on my 1900ACv1 and it's rock solid.  Is it ok to upgrade to David's latest 4.4.6 build or will it be less stable?

Yeah, it's good to go on 4.4.6.  I've been pleasantly surprised, however your results may vary smile

I can confirm 4.1.x leds do not work. 4.4.7 does work (I did a new clone and forgot to change the kernel is how I saw it.)
