Topic: I am looking for assistance with a WRT54GL

The content of this topic has been archived on 2 May 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

Hi All;

I have a used WRT54GL that I purchased. I'm stuck - stuck in a limbo.

I've tried the hard reset method (the 30/30/30) multiple times. No joy.

I've tried to reflash it from the command line using tftp from a command line (Linux) and from Wind-blows (tftp software). No luck.

I don't want to open this thing up if I do not have to. I must be doing something wrong. This should be a seamless operation. I've done it multiple times with other Linksys equipment.

The only thing I can do it get a URL ( the admin page) but of course I don't know the userid/password so that's useless.

I can see that it gives an IP address when it starts up. I can ping the address, run nmap and there is port 22 and 80 listening.

So, any helpful hints? What am I missing with this? I am sure it is something simple that I keep overlooking.

Any help offered would be much appreciated.

Thanks much.

G

Hello.
I do not know if this helps you.

Have flashed the orginal firmwware. Then flashed openwrt again from the menu.

I have done so under Linux:

1. The PC gets the IP address 192.168.1.2 with

sudo ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.2

2.

tftp 192.168.1.1

binary

rexmt 1

timeout 60

trace

3.  after all that type (but do not hit enter yust yet)

4.

put FW_WRT54GL_4.30.16.6_US_20130308_code.bin

  Version 1.1

5.   plug in router and immediately hit enter
6.   do nothing. look at this picture

that I got from a website.
'm due url no longer
