hi 2 all !

I bought a new ASUS WL-500g deluxe and installed the openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx openwrt rc5 and some additional packages. Afaik if I use squashfs I have only half of the flash available because there is a rom which also carries the data. Is it right if I use jffs2 that I have the realy 4MB available because atm my flash is full (can't store any data anymore). This router also has a 2 usb connectors. Is it possible to use one usb connector with a usb - stick which is permanently available for programs and the 2. connector for a usb hub or a usb disk ? anyone tried to connect a usb hub with several harddisks ?

Yes, it's possible.

Maybe you want to _boot_ from a usb-storage (pivot_root): http://wiki.openwrt.org/UsbStorageHowto … a50d94382a

thx for the answer !

another generel question: will the nvram settings be the same if i reformat it with jffs2 image ?

YES

(sry, but - RTFM smile)

i'm sorry about theses dummy questions but I don't have experience with jffs2 images (I only have 3 routers with squashfs). So I'm a little be afraid of loosing my configuration. Again sorry about that sad

have u tried using the micro squashfs image?

I ran out of space, so switched to that

i need most of the things which is in the bin version.
I need following features on my router:

dhcp,dns,pppoe,wifi,ftpserver or client, ctorrent,screen,usb,loop-aes

dhcp and dns is in the micro, pppoe can be easilly installed, and the rest isent standard in the bin anyway

Even like that, the micro will be much smaller

Here's what comes in the bin / micro etc... http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Ins … 4567b0b965

the biggest program is elinks !
is there a smaller web browser for openwrt ?

do you mean the webinterface? or the webserver (httpd)?

removed all stuff that has something to do with web interfaces. is there a smaller or other version of elinks (lynx,links,...) ?

um... the whole point of the micro is that it dosent have the webinterface. Instead of uninstalling the webinterface, install the micro and add any packages u may want

The discussion might have continued from here.
