Topic: how to power WR703n by active USB-hub instead of microUSB

The content of this topic has been archived on 27 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

I want to power my WR703n not by the microUSB connector but with the voltage provided by an active USB hub.
I dimly remember having seen a tutorial on how to achieve this, but unfortuenately I cannot find it anymore in the web.
Does anyone still know how to do this / remember the site?

Background:
"Out of the box" feeding voltage to the router via the regular USB port does not work because to my knowledge some diode inside the router protects it from overvoltage / acting as a current sink. So one has to bridge this protection circuitry.

Your link is for modifying the MR3020, the "bigger brother" of the WR703n. And the picture given in your link unfortunately does not match the circuitry on the WR703n.
