Ok, I see that about the buttons and the LEDs.  What about failsafe mode?

Am I to infer from the fact that neither the buttons or the LEDs are working, that failsafe mode does not work either?

Hi,

Having some fun with this router, but I have a few questions.

First, I can't seem to get it into failsafe mode.  The LEDs do not show any sort of useful blink patterns, so I tried the packet capture approach "tcpdump -Ani eth0 port 4919 and udp".  There are no such packets.

I've had success with this on other router models, so I don't know what's up with this one.  Any ideas?

Also, the buttons show no evidence of working.  Nothing shows up in dmesg.  Is there some other way to test this?

Thanks,

Charles

No idea, but I'll test it... if it doesn't work, then yes -- it's not supported (yet).

Hi. I try to compile firmware with kernel 4.4.10.
add all 10 patch and copy patch (flash chip) from kernel 3,18 to 4.4.10

I am using the c2600 v1.0 with the r49166 release. So far I am happy with it. Yesterday I encountered a strange problem. I tried to install the kernel mod "kmod-nf-nathelper-extra". However, there was the following error:

Installing kmod-nf-nathelper-extra (3.18.29-1) to root...
Downloading http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/ … q806x.ipk.
Collected errors:
* satisfy_dependencies_for: Cannot satisfy the following dependencies for kmod-nf-nathelper-extra:
*      kernel (= 3.18.29-1-800f6a8e59c32c320f800d4b7d402789) *
* opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package kmod-nf-nathelper-extra.

I tried with opkg update but still the error. I have no idea what's wrong. I also compared the opkg.conf in /rom/etc/ with /etc/ but it is identical.

Does anybody know whats going on?

I'm having issues getting the ad-blocking to work, can someone help me here please?

It keeps freezing my router every couple of hours and I need to power it down... Am I doing something wrong?

To me i would rather block ads computer side to use less process on the router.  Just my opinion.  I hope you get a more technical answer soon.

Hi. I compile LEDE ( without LuCI):

Hi,

Your link doesn't work. Could you host the image somewhere else ? I'll also be interested in the source of your LEDE build smile Does the 5Ghz work ?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry. My fault:

http://hyniu.noip.pl:82/

version 3.18.29 - have luci, adblock, oscam, megatools and other kernel modules.
version 4.4.11 - dont have luci, but you can uncomment repository in /etc/opkg/distfeeds.conf and install it with opkg.

got 4.4.11 "working" on v1.1. Same issues I've had with a few recent build

- No 30dbm
- Tried changing to 00 World and this ends up making radio0 (wireless A) unconfigurable, no frequency or anything in the drop boxes (luci)
- Reboot still doesn't work, have to manually power off/on to get it back to normal

But it is up and working and got Wireless G working but in low 20 dbm instead of 30.

I'll check how the config files look on the filesystem and post back

(Last edited by RedVortex on 25 May 2016, 02:45)

Other things to report for 4.4.11

- The status overview page in luci doesn't show anything except for those fields (everything else is empty or contains a -)

Hostname    lede
Model    TP-Link Archer C2600
Firmware Version    LEDE Reboot r401 / LuCI Master (git-16.144.41584-9ad8a06)
Kernel Version    4.4.11

- After a router reboot (power off/on), Setting country to Canada and use a high channel number (157) I was able to configure Wireless 5ghz to 30 dbm and it is working, same goes for Wireless 2.4ghz

I'm very happy you guys got 4.4 working on the 2600. I think I'll keep using Lede from now on ;-)

The only thing missing (if we forget about the country acting up in the wifi config and making them useless and inability to set the power properly, both of which seems to be resolved after a second reboot), might be to figure out why reboot doesn't work. Definitely not high in the bug list, hehehe.

Good job guys !

After another reboot, all stats are back in the luci overview page, weird. Either I wasn't patient enough or the third reboot did it.

All in all, very pleased with this build so far. Especially the fact that the build is super clean without any useless stuff in it.

I'll let you know how stable it is in the next few days.

So, here's what works for me:

1 - Install build
2 - Upon reboot, configure /etc/config/network to have internet access (don't forget DNS)
3 - Uncomment luci repo in /etc/opkg/distfeeds.conf
4 - Install Luci
5 - Set up Country to CA (Canada) to make sure we're in a country that allows 30dbm, we do allow that up north you know, eh ?
6 - Wifi is now messed up (still need to figure out why) so reboot
7 - Reboot is hung so, power off/on the router to bring it back up
8 - Go back in wireless and select appropriate channels, security, etc and select 30 dbm (1000 mw)
9 - Enjoy !

Did you download it here https://downloads.lede-project.org/snap … x/generic/

If yes! Which one? Or maybe somebody else can say which one?

I don't want to use the standard firmware, years I used OpenWrt on my Netgear's.
I've a C2600 now, so let's test :-)

Hi. New compilation kernel 4.4.11:

http://hyniu.noip.pl:82/

Add 30dBm patch
Add luci-ssl
Wifi default on
Wifi region set to 00 - World
Enable all repository and add kernel repository.
Power LED blink like system led

no this is compilation only for Archer C2600.

@RedVortex Thanks for testing.

Hi!

Here's what I got when I first booted with this new version (after upgrade and not keeping any settings)

Luci SSL working out of the box
Dropbear is on unspecified by default (may be a bit unsafe ? Should it bind to LAN only ? Then again, that's just an opinion.)
Wifi 5ghz enabled and working, Mode AC, set to World, 30 dbm, 80 mhz
Wifi 2.4ghz enabled and working, Mode N, set to World, 30 dbm, 20 mhz (maybe it should default to 40 mhz instead of 20 ?)

So in other words, everything now works perfectly right upon first boot, this is awesome ! :-)

Also, not sure what got fixed/changed for wireless in this version but accessing/editing the wireless configs is now as fast as everything else.
It used to be super slow using previous OpenWRT builds and the previous LEDE build, I even thought it was normal for wireless configs at some point...
It was taking a few seconds to access settings, taking another few seconds to save.
I'm super happy that this now works perfectly and without any delay now, it was quite a pain to wait for every click previously.

Basically, I just needed to configure

- router password
- wireless settings as I wished (WPA2, AES, SSID, Channels)
- private LAN

And I was good to go under a minute.

This is by far the best version I've had for the 2600 yet.

For this version to be perfect (let's say a release to general public)

- Figure out the reboot issue (still problematic). Btw, when I request a reboot all leds go off and then nothing happens anymore. I have to power off/on.

Less important but if someone wants to do some witch hunting :-)

- Figure out the Wireless Leds and maybe even all the remaining leds so they work
- Try to determine if we can get back the feature we once had in OpenWRT to force 40Mhz even when the router detects this (disabling HT_SCAN)
    Wed May 25 14:39:19 2016 daemon.notice netifd: radio0 (331): wlan0: interface state HT_SCAN->ENABLED
    Wed May 25 14:39:20 2016 daemon.notice netifd: radio1 (332): 20/40 MHz operation not permitted on channel pri=11 sec=7 based on overlapping BSSes
If I remember well it was under the advanced features in the wireless
- Try to determine the root cause of those errors if possible and they tend to happen quite often but not sure what the impact is (if any)

Great job @Heinz !

hi Heinz

Can you pls share with me how you got everything working?
1. clone source from lede
2. apply 4.4 kernel patches from codeaurora person.
3. ?

Thanks for your time.

Strange, because when you look on Google you see that they added support for C2600 for AP148.
That's why I asked?

But I will download yours at home, it's blocked at work :-(

After some time with the latest version

- I've had a few wireless slowdowns
- The router was a bit slow to access the admin page (could be related to wifi being slow)

I seems to be able to reproduce this issue at will as soon as I put some stress on the wireless, around 50 mbits either upload or download, both seem affected. The result being a small disruption (2-3 seconds) of the traffic. I do not seem to loose wireless but icmp shows packet loss or very high (look for icmp output at the end of this post)

Here's a few logs (two log parts) that seems to be repeating regarding the wireless when the situation happens. Not sure if the kernel is the problem or the wireless module itself...

After looking at the icmp log again, you can see that the router actually did not drop anything, it just took a long time to reply (check the icmp_seq of the timeouts, you can see them reply back later on with a 2.5 seconds delay). So the router seems to be able to queue up everything or something and when it recovers from the problem it is able to resend everything that got queued....
