Worked perfectly, thanks a lot!
Topic: Nexx WT3020 U-boot mod?
The content of this topic has been archived between 15 Mar 2016 and 30 Apr 2018. Unfortunately there are posts – most likely complete pages – missing.
Guys,
I'm all new to openwrt, I have a NEXX WT3020 and i don't want to brick it on the first attempt.
I'm probably reading to much and try to little, but the thing is this, I want it to be as perfect as possible so an U-boot with a webinterface would be very welcome!
My nexx still has the stock firmware, can i flash this uboot from the stock nexx webinterface or must i do it over telnet? If possible, can someone who has the tools to unbrick, please give it a try. It might save newcomers like a few headaches. I dont have tools to unbrick, i might order some once i know what to order but for now i will try to play things safe.
Thanks for the headups about the uboot.
From the r708, this is the prepadded file:
https://mega.co.nz/#!BQF02IqD!dqTmT-JGr … QJ1rmOCj7k
Who could update the wiki page to include this information? I've lost like 2 weeks looking for the reason it didn't boot.
> From the r708, this is the prepadded file:
Is it required to use a padded u-boot after all?
i'm currently running CCrc2 with the stock u-boot, so i don't think it is required.

Sorry I meant for non-stock u-boot. And the answers seems to be "no" since I can install unmodified breed directly on a factory WT3020.
Guys,
Be aware of ugly bugs when you consider install. I have bricked my first device following the "alternative way" instructions from the wiki. I had no tools to unbreak so I just bought two new devices. I managed to install CC-rc3 by upgrading to the Breed bootloader (r708) without any padding from recovery console.
So I confirm that this bundle is save: bootloader, image. Use the malfi's method to install it.
Could someone more experienced (and with better English skills) update the wiki to not confuse the people?
I've successfully installed trunk on seven different WT3020's, but my first step is always to replace the U-boot with Breed in case something goes wrong.

Does anyone know if the modified uboot will work with the Kingston MLWG2?
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/kingston/mlwg2
If so how do we determine which one to use?

+1 for this one !
I am considering a WT3020 to buy, too, but totally confused, what/how to do, to get and run openwrt on it.
Is this Breed version english?
I remember someone said Breed is (partly?) in an unknown language.
And does anyone know if this can be trusted? Is the source available?
I hope hackpascal released the source. He is nice enough to use the U-boot source, but yet not nice enough to share back.
no english version.
no sources.
not using(at least on words) u-boot source.
As the aforementioned breed file is not available anymore, I just wanted to let you know, that the following combination is working fine here too:
5c164e40aeb8b7b54775167d5888f85f breed-mt7620-reset1.bin (r766 http://breed.hackpascal.net/r766%20%5b2015-09-21%5d/ )
cf5dc8d36425f035abcdd06780f40a2f openwrt-15.05-ramips-mt7620-wt3020-8M-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
and now he is disable the uboot console output , that i can not see the output file.

DL: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1bnkzwAzThe Nexx WT3020 using GPIO#1, so you can try "u-boot-mt7620-public-reset1.bin"
This modification is based on my work (GPL, link in my footer).
Just look on the page for firmware update - it's mine design.Do you know when we can expect public availability of the sources?
This guy ("hackpascal") is stealing my work, Atheros work, TP-Link work, MediaTek/Ralink work etc., etc.U-Boot project is licensed under GPL. All mentioned above manufacturers provide sources for their modified U-Boot sources.
yes..and right now he is disable the uboot console output.. i think he is definitely use the uboot sources.and also yours.

I asked him for sources (at least for the version which is definitely based on U-Boot), but he didn't have even courage to answer me, so now I don't care anymore - wasting time on people who just don't get the idea about open source is... just wasting time.

Thanks for the update, I grabbed the latest r802 [2015-12-07] version and it worked like a treat. It is nice to know that I can always recover the router without a serial console even if the openwrt image breaks completely.
I'm not sure I agree with the decision somebody made to eliminate all traces of the breed firmware from the wt3020 wiki page. It is still the most robust solution for installing openwrt onto the wt3020. I do understand the GPL implications (and I would certainly not support the breed project monetarily or otherwise), but since the hackpascal guy is not making a profit on the uboot image, and nobody else came forward with a similar, but GPL-clean uboot image (actually, no one even bothered to integrate the openwrt failsafe patch in almost a year), the wiki should present all options to the users and let them decide which avenue to pursue.

That's a shame indeed. I had sent this to the mailing list almost a year ago but got zero reactions.
