Hi everyone, i tried to install a backfire version on a new tl-wr841nd as instructed on the wiki but it didnt take. The flashing process didnt reboot from the web interface and i cant access the router from 192.168.1.1 so i entered failsafe mode to try and fix it, i used mount_root, firstboot, mtd -r erase rootfs_data and reboot -f, all these command worked the router reboots but it still doesnt work.

i know the router's not dead because the system led still blinks and i can trigger failsafe mode, what can i do to fix the problem.

Which version of TL-WR841ND?

version 9.3 with firmware version wr841nv9_en_3_16_9_up(141013)

http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr841nd says that TL-WR841ND v9 is supported by 14.07 + 15.05, so why don't you try those instead of the very old backfire?

is there no way to ubrick the router?

Is it possible to install the latest version of openwrt and then downgrade to backfire because i think the hotspot firmware is based on backfire http://www.radiusdesk.com/user_guide/md_tplink_wr841

sorry the radiusdesk firmware is 14.07 not backfire

You could download that firmware to /tmp in failsafe using wget, and then flash it with mtd.
